So, on to the adventure..... Our destination was the Encinal Yacht Club which is in Alameda. So, we set out as soon as dad could get mom going - she can kinda drag when it comes to showering in the morning (especially on Saturdays).
Finally we get going and we are having a FANTASTIC time....
Nice wind, borderline needing to reef - but decided to push it since we were
about to turn downwind anyway (it doesn't heel so much when you aren't going so
straight into the wind).
I of course take time for a nap...
but that darn wheel again, it keeps turning on me - not a very proper pillow if
you ask me, humph! Maybe mom and dad can fix that instead of installing
that second forestay.
Dad loves to sail the best that he can, I try to study his
technique for when I'm able to take over watches - regardless, it's always good
of any crewmember to know what's going on and be sure the skippers are taking
good care of you.
And soon, we passed by the Bay Bridge
construction...
It'll be fun to see when this is done, but to tell you the truth, I think my
parents are enjoying watching it being built now - they always make a big deal
about it when we pass by.
I do wonder how they are going to take that old bridge down...I hope we aren't
out here when they do that, it'll probably be loud and I don't much like
loud...I'm more of a peaceful girl.

The boat below the bridge is Thistle who belongs to Ed and Kathy of the yacht club and they are going to Encinal too...
And we all know who these two are...
We passed this huge barge and crane....
This is how they dredge parts of the Bay for shipping. They literally take
loads of dirt and dump them somewhere...
Finally, we enter the estuary,
It's fun to see the 'working life' of the area.
And here we sail near Walden (Gordon and
Elizabeth) ...
After
getting to the Marina, we took some time to play ball and go for a walk. I
found a perfect place for my statue to ME, because, you know, It's all about
ME....
Here's my neighbor (Cosmo) and his mom, Lori. They live on
their boat too and are about to get a brand new bigger one!!!! I'm feeling
a bit jealous.
Dad found an internet connection
There were sailors hoisting their boats
Don't worry, they weren't going to put it on our boat - there was a little bitty
sliver of a slip, these boats would fit in behind us.
Soon, it was time for the parents to go to dinner, here are some of their pictures...

I was on the boat taking a nappy during all this. It doesn't look like too much fun for me, I don't think I could get a good run for my ball game here... Anyway, I need my beauty rest.

We woke to a cloudy day with a forecast of a storm coming in. Although it wasn't forecasted to come until the afternoon, as we all know forecasts can be wrong (just see some of my coastal logs for that). Everyone else decided to head home early, my mom and dad - though - decided to hang out a bit, have breakfast and then head home, hoping to get some wind to sail (the wind junkies that they are...)
So, they went off to breakfast at the Oakland
Yacht Club, where they had a whole table to themselves....
The Club was great and the breakfast yummy...
Pacifica looks so peaceful in the morning calm. Eventually
after more relaxing and a game of ball...
it was time to head home.
They estuary is a neat place to see interesting houseboats...
Mom and I spent some time checking out the bow - and I even had some alone time
up here, the smells are amazing for me. My parents talk about how since my
nose is so sensitive, it must be wildly different to see life through my eyes
(or nose).
Then, of course, the weekend ends and it's time for all of us to go back to our weekday lives - Mom and dad at work and me to my playgroup.

And ended the way every weekend should end, with one tuckered puppy.
